Humana's Healthcare Quality & Reporting Improvement (HQRI) department is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join a high-performing team dedicated to advancing predictive modeling and analytics in support of our Medicare and Medicaid business. The HQRI team plays a pivotal role within Humana, delivering insights that drive the effectiveness of risk adjustment initiatives.
Requirements
- Proficiency with one of the following: SQL, SAS, R or Python
- Experience using mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions
- Ability to use independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.
Responsibilities
- Utilize mathematics, statistics, and programming to generate predictions that drive risk adjustment operations and strategy
- Deliver complex information in the manner most useful to the customer, utilizing tables, charts, graphs, filters, etc. to make clear the most important aspects of the information presented
- Seek always to understand customers’ needs and work in partnership with customers to develop solutions that satisfy those needs
- Uses mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions.
- The Senior Data Scientist work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- The Senior Data Scientist in this role will empower risk adjustment decision makers through predictive analytics.
- They will provide actionable, accurate, and reliable solutions to support our operations and finance partners’ business needs.

- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of applicable experience OR Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience
- Master’s degree or higher education
- Experience in health care, insurance, or risk adjustment
- This position is remote and work can be performed anywhere in the US; however, preference is for candidates to be located within reasonable commutable distance to Louisville, Kentucky.
- occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.
