Microsoft's Office of the Chief Economist is looking to leverage data science and economics to drive commercial value, optimize resource efficiency, understand the impact of AI on work, and improve market design for software resellers. The Senior Data Scientist will specifically focus on building algorithmic support for deal teams using machine learning, experimentation, and analytics to address pressing business challenges.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience in preparing and executing analysis plans, evaluating various statistical methods (ML, causal inference, classical methods) and choosing the most appropriate approaches given business requirements.
  • 1+ year of industry experience in python and R and data query systems such as SQL or Spark, and management platforms such as Fabric, Databricks, SQL Server or Cosmos.
  • 1+ year of experience with MLops, running Production-grade ML systems and experience with Sales processes.
  • 1+ year of engineering experience in a modern cloud stack, including serverless methods and demonstrated experience leveraging your skills using AI.
  • managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results

Responsibilities

  • Understand business needs and develop appropriate data analysis to meet those needs including pipelining, exploratory data analysis, modeling, inference, and experimentation.
  • Build a robust product that makes data, econometrics, and ML useful for deal teams in the field.
  • Using machine learning, experimentation, and good old-fashioned analytics.
  • Dive deep into sophisticated modeling approaches when needed.
  • Tell good stories through data, how to visualize, and how to use many fast iterations in the face of ambiguous problems.
  • Prepare and execute analysis plans, evaluating various statistical methods (ML, causal inference, classical methods) and choosing the most appropriate approaches given business requirements.
