CookUnity is looking to empower chefs to nourish the world by expanding beyond delivery and becoming an ever-innovating marketplace, and the Data Scientist role is key to achieving this mission by harnessing the power of advanced algorithms and computational models to unravel complex patterns, predict future trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in data science or related fields.
- Proven experience in applying machine learning and statistics to create and expand competitive advantages and company growth. Experience in any of the following is a big plus: Marketplace, Subscription, and Food industry.
- Strong programming (Python / Scala / Java / C++ or equivalent) skills.
- Utilize OSS ML technologies such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Spark, Airflow.

- Partner with our supply leadership to create a data-driven framework for optimizing supply and demand elasticities through experimentation and predictive modeling. What chefs and meals should we add next?
- Develop and implement online and offline testing and validation methodologies. What was the incrementality of adding African meals in Austin? What is the optimal rotation of our menu each week?
- Provide thought leadership on data science best practices, trends, and emerging technologies. Leverage LLMs to build a prototype CookUnity ‘waiter’ menu experience or a ‘taste profile’ for each customer.
- Oversee the creation of a modern, best-in-class data science infrastructure, partnering with engineering.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to data scientists, promoting best practices and professional development.
