Lightspark is building open payments for the Internet and needs a Senior Data Scientist to drive data-informed decisions across Product, Finance, Compliance, and Strategy, bridging the gap between data infrastructure and business teams to grow the Money Grid.
Requirements
- Expert-level SQL skills—you can write complex queries, optimize for performance, and design efficient data models
- Strong Python programming skills: you can build pipelines, automate analyses, and with production-quality code
- Proven ability to define metrics and measurement frameworks from scratch
- Understanding of statistical concepts (A/B testing, causal inference, experimentation)
- Experience with modern data tools like DBT, Airflow/Dagster, BigQuery/Snowflake/Databricks, Looker/Mode/Hex
- Experience in payments, fintech, or crypto/blockchain companies
- Familiarity with compliance, fraud detection, or risk analytics
Responsibilities
- Design and implement measurement frameworks for our core products (UMA, Spark, Lightspark Payments)
- Build dashboards and reporting that make data self-service for cross-functional teams
- Track product health, user engagement, retention, and transaction patterns
- Extend our data infrastructure to support new analytics use cases
- Build domain-specific data models and pipelines using dbt, SQL, and Python
- Create scalable, maintainable analytics code that others can build upon
- Collaborate with our Data Engineer to design efficient data architectures
