Microsoft's Core Platform Driver team is seeking engineers to work on state-of-the-art gaming platform technology, specifically at the intersection of hardware and software to provide industry-leading game development technology. They are responsible for the Operating Systems that power Azure, Microsoft's Linux OS, and platforms for Windows Client, Xbox, and Windows Server, underpinning cloud businesses and billions of customers. The role aims to improve system reliability, reduce costs, and deliver new features by enhancing operating systems and platform components.
Requirements
- hands on experience with power management within an OS platform (Windows, Linux, iOS)
- experience within the graphics stack (Graphics engine, runtime, driver, microcode, hardware)
- Experience with performance analysis and performance tooling a plus
- coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- experience in owning/delivering key components of a software product
- coding in languages including, but not limited to, C/C++
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine requirements.
- Leads by example within the team by producing extensible, maintainable, and testable code.
- Optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
- Applies appropriate coding patterns and best practices.
- Leads discussions for the architecture and creates proposals for architecture by testing design hypotheses and helping to refine code plans.
- Provides feedback, proposed solutions, to peers.
- Owns architecting of solutions, with minimal technical oversight.
