Verizon is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to develop, deploy, and maintain infrastructure and applications in the on-prem cloud platform, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and tools to ensure continuous integration and delivery, enabling rapid development and deployment cycles.
Requirements
- Hands-on DevOps experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools such as ArgoCD, Bamboo, Jenkins, Git, Ansible, and Artifactory.
- Experience working with web server technologies like Apache and Tomcat.
- Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting applications using Python and shell scripting.
- Experience configuring and managing synthetic and APM monitoring tools such as ELK, Prometheus, Kibana, Grafana, and New Relic.
- Knowledge of messaging systems like RabbitMQ, Kafka, SwiftMQ, or JMS.
- Experience with big data technologies, including Hadoop and Spark.
Responsibilities
- Providing both functional and technical leadership to the Verizon Cloud DevOps team, encompassing architecture, design, and implementation of solutions utilizing industry-standard tools and technologies.
- Enabling and supporting CI/CD automation through comprehensive pipelines that include builds, deployments, security and code scans, as well as integration testing.
- Collaborating closely with engineers, operations, product managers, and other stakeholders to address organizational needs and maintain competitiveness, ensuring optimal application availability, scalability, and performance from the infrastructure level upward.
- Continuously evaluating existing processes and practices, and proactively recommending and driving improvements.
- Assessing competitive products and technologies, and offering informed recommendations—leveraging demos and proof-of-concepts—to help shape product and technology direction.
- Overseeing application deployments and rollbacks.
- Monitoring and analyzing hardware resources, security, operating systems, service logs, and performance metrics using centralized tools to identify and resolve issues.

- Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
- A minimum of four years of relevant experience, demonstrated through professional, military, or specialized training.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
