Travelers is looking to solve the business problem of strategic pricing segmentation of commercial transportation risk by using advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to develop cutting-edge trucking models and gain a competitive advantage.
Requirements
- Masters in STEM related field or equivalent
- Industry expertise in modeling/ research/ analytics or actuarial required
- Industry level knowledge of value creation and business model concepts
- Subject matter expertise in the majority of external software programs
- Ability to apply emerging statistical procedures to large highly complex work
- Recognized industry expertise in 2-3 of the following: Regression, Classification, Machine Vision, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning and Statistical modeling
- Heavy concentration in mathematics, including statistics and programming, business intelligence/analytics, as well as data science tools and research using large data sets
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and deployment of sophisticated rating plan models for commercial auto trucking business
- Utilize advanced statistical techniques and machine learning methodologies to create competitive advantages
- Ensure trucking models maintain industry-leading standards and meet both regulatory requirements and business objectives
- Partner strategically with Actuarial, Product Management, Underwriting, and IT teams to collaboratively design innovative products and implement robust models
- Establish comprehensive monitoring processes that ensure optimal model performance and business alignment throughout the product lifecycle
- Collaborate with actuarial and regulatory teams to facilitate seamless model filings with relevant authorities
- Drive consistency and innovation in modeling techniques throughout the organization
Other
- 10 or more years of related work experience, including 6 or more years of team leadership experience
- Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers using negotiating and/or influencing skills
- Ability to communicate analysis, insights, and results to team, peers, business partners, and on an occasional basis to executive level leaders
- Ability to anticipate potential objections and influence senior leaders to adopt a different point of view
- Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Decision Sciences, Actuarial Science or related analytical STEM field plus six years of experience or any suitable and equivalent combination of education and work experience
