Optum is looking to improve health outcomes by connecting people with care, pharmacy benefits, data, and resources, and is seeking a Sr Director of Product to lead enterprise-wide data strategy and execution to drive innovation and operational excellence across data governance, product development, analytics, AI/ML capabilities, stewardship, and technology platforms.
Requirements
- Experience with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, Kafka)
- Solid familiarity with AI/ML platforms and analytics tools
- Deep understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and regulatory compliance
- Proven success in building and scaling data platforms and products in complex enterprise environments
- Experience managing budgets that include sales/bookings targets, revenue targets, client satisfaction targets, and expense targets
- Experience in forecasting and financial planning and analysis
- Background in computer science, data science, or engineering (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Define and execute a comprehensive data product strategy aligned with business objectives
- Champion a 'data as a product' mindset across the organization
- Establish and scale enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards
- Lead data stewardship programs to ensure data quality, lineage, and compliance
- Champion the strategic vision for AI adoption by aligning initiatives with organizational goals
- Oversee the development of advanced analytics and AI/ML capabilities
- Partner with data science and engineering teams to deliver scalable, ethical AI solutions

- 12+ years of combined experience and a proven record of driving major transformational change and delivering measurable results
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing cross-functional data teams across multiple geographies
- Willing to travel 10-15%
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage a team, recruit and retain top talent, build consensus, and rally members to achieve results
