ALO is seeking a Senior Director of Data Engineering to build and scale a modern data platform to support business intelligence, personalization, supply chain optimization, and AI/ML initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and scaling cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Expertise in SQL, Python, Spark, and modern data stack tools.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and real-time data processing.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time streaming systems.
- Establish best practices for data governance, quality, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Evaluate and implement modern data tools and platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, dbt).
- Drive innovation in data architecture to support personalization, predictive analytics, and AI/ML capabilities.

- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of data engineers and architects.
- Partner with business leaders, product managers, and data scientists to deliver data solutions that drive business impact.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure cost-effective use of third-party data services.
- 12+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience supporting e-commerce, retail, or consumer brands is a plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
