BD is seeking a Senior Director, Software Engineering to deliver on business commitments and transform/modernize the Software function across the Diagnostic Solutions portfolio, spanning full-stack solutions including Informatics, Enterprise Software, Instrument Applications, and Embedded Systems.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in full-stack software development, including embedded systems, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML, DevOps, test automation, and modern software architectures

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a unified software vision aligned with Diagnostic Solutions’ strategic goals
  • Lead the teams delivering the innovative Software solutions on our key flagship products, including BD BACTEC™, BD COR™ & BD Synapsys™ to name but a few and have them formed into into a cohesive, collaborative organization
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of software solutions across the product portfolio
  • Drive excellence in architecture, development, testing, DevOps, and release management
  • Champion the use of AI, automation, and modern engineering practices to enhance productivity and innovation.
  • Implement and scale agile methodologies and best practices across all software teams
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards in software development

Other

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven track record of leading large, distributed software teams in a regulated or high-tech environment
  • Demonstrated success in driving organizational transformation and fostering innovation
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
  • Prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry. For most roles, we require a minimum of 4 days of in-office presence per week to maintain our culture of excellence and ensure smooth operations, while also recognizing the importance of flexibility and work-life balance.
