Salesforce is looking for a Senior Director of Engineering to lead the Unified Automation and Activations team, shaping and executing the strategic vision for the next generation of automation and agents that powers Salesforce Marketing and Sales Go-To-Market teams
Requirements
- Proven hands-on background in designing and delivering large-scale, production-grade services using Java/Node JS, with the ability to provide architectural guidance and support complex technical decision-making.
- Deep technical mastery of the Salesforce Platform ecosystem, including Salesforce platform, Flow, Heroku, Mulesoft, and APEX.
- Deep technical mastery in Data Engineering, Analytics, or massive-scale SaaS platforms, ideally with experience working with a centralized data instance like Data 360.
- Extensive experience building, scaling, and maintaining complex enterprise automation or ML/AI products that operate 24x7.
- Proven experience driving the adoption and continuous improvement of Agile and/or Lean methodologies across all engineering teams, ensuring high-velocity execution, predictable delivery, and a focus on customer value.
- Direct experience with marketing technology, sales enablement platforms, lead management, campaign optimization, or cross-channel attribution.
- Expertise in cloud-native architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern data lake/warehouse technologies.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Technical Solution to meet Product Vision: Partner with Product Management to translate product design into the technical solution that unlock business value. Lead the engineering teams to deliver technical solutions for the unified automation and activation team on the Salesforce ecosystem, driving intelligent Sales and Marketing GTM motions.
- Develop and Manage High-Scale Applications: Own the design, operation, and reliability of massively scalable automation and transactional platforms, ensuring seamless and performant execution of core systems like response management, campaign management, and other mission-critical applications.
- Drive Next-Generation Decisioning: Lead the engineering development of a next-generation decision engine for Marketing and Sales pipeline, leveraging AI, ML models and signals from Data 360 to optimize GTM strategies autonomously and instantly.
- Lead and Grow High Performing Engineering Team: Lead, mentor, and grow a large engineering organization, cultivating a high-velocity culture defined by technical excellence, ownership, and professional growth.
- Champion Technical Excellence: Champion engineering best practices, operational excellence, and agile methodologies, with a specific focus on the Salesforce platform and cloud-scale systems.
- Drive Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with Product Management, Architects, other Engineering teams, and business stakeholders to translate GTM and business demands into shippable code that delivers measurable value for internal stakeholders.
- Manage Complex Project Execution: Drive the successful execution of complex technical projects across multiple scrum teams, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality tooling and services that meet business objectives.
Other
- 12+ years of intense experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in a Director or Senior Director role leading large-scale, enterprise-level organizations.
- Proven experience leading leaders, including managing multiple engineering managers and senior technical leads, with an overall span of control of 30+ engineers across several cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills—able to align executives, researchers, and engineers around a complex technical strategy and shared vision.
- Demonstrated ability to define and drive Engineering Operational Excellence, including establishing metrics, automation frameworks, reliability practices, CI/CD standards, and governance models that improve quality, velocity, and long-term maintainability across engineering teams.
