Capital One is looking to solve the problem of maintaining and modernizing its core CI/CD platforms, which power code builds for over 15,000 developers, by hiring a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the Simple Best in Class Deployments (SBiCD) organization.
Requirements
- Solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: NodeJS, Java, GO, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, Perl, NoSQL databases, relational databases, Hadoop, Chef, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure.
- At least 9 years of experience in software development
- At least 7 years of experience in people management
- 13+ years of experience in software development (preferred)
- 8+ years of experience in Agile practices (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience managing high availability, mission-critical production systems at scale (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Partner deeply with Product to co-own the vision and roadmap for Capital One’s CI/CD ecosystem.
- Own the availability, latency, and efficiency of mission-critical, distributed systems.
- Implement and refine the engineering mechanisms (reviews, RCAs, architectural standards) that ensure high-quality operations and delivery.
- Lead a large, distributed organization of engineering leaders and set the standard for engineering culture.
- Act as a trusted partner to VPs and SVPs across the enterprise, advocating for 'paved paths' that make the right thing the easy thing.
- Own the reliability of the core CI/CD stack (including Jenkins) and co-create and execute the vision for its modernization with technologies like OAM and Harness.
- Drive the technical strategy that balances velocity with stability.
