Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Senior Engineer, Software Engineering to redefine the future of aerospace technology by designing, developing, integrating, and testing communications systems for aircraft routers.

Requirements

  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience completing formal DO178 compliant software run-for-score activities and documentation.
  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience with: Command line Linux and embedded C/C++.
  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience with: Embedded Linux device drivers.
  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience with: Hardware board bring-up and integration.
  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience with: Bash and Python scripting languages.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate and test communications systems for aircraft routers that support multiple ways of connecting the aircraft to the ground and the airlines, which includes enhancing customized Linux OS ecosystem and maintaining ownership over areas such as build toolchain, kernel, root filesystem, bootloader, device drivers, and BSP for a wide variety of hardware boards.
  • As part of the Airborne Information Solutions group, work alongside FPGA, hardware, systems and software teams in order to seamlessly embed advanced technology into wide array of communications product portfolio.
  • Conduct design, development, integration, implementation, and testing of our embedded software in C++, C, Ada and Python on Linux OS for our connectivity products.
  • Contribute to the design, coding, testing, delivery and ongoing support for embedded Linux software and drivers.
  • Prepare software builds for execution in a simulation environment, reference platforms and on the target hardware.
  • Prepare embedded test solutions that support hardware qualification activities.
  • Utilize and integrate third party and open-source content, following applicable company processes.

Other

  • Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of progressive experience as a Software Engineer or related role in the Aerospace industry. In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer or related role in the Aerospace industry would be acceptable.
  • Non-US Person - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position. The company will not seek an export authorization for this role.
