Roblox needs a Senior Engineering Director to lead the Developer Monetization team, which is responsible for the systems that power Roblox's virtual economy. The goal is to innovate how developers can grow their businesses, increase earnings, and build compelling user experiences while maintaining the security, scalability, and integrity of the platform.
Requirements
- Experience with marketplace, e-commerce, and economic motivations and incentives for large scale platforms
- Experience building systems that are both economically sound and technically rigorous
- Experience with high scalability environments
- Experience with high-scale, proprietary systems
- Experience with Robux-based transactions
- Experience with monetization mechanics behind avatar items
- Experience with in-experience purchases
Responsibilities
- Shape and grow a high performance engineering team with some of the highest scale production responsibilities
- Create a culture and practice of raising the bar as well as delivering world class engineering systems and products
- Drive innovation in how developers can grow their businesses, increase their earnings, and build compelling user experiences.
- Lead efforts to personalize monetization opportunities for users, enabling targeted offers, automating complex creator workflows, and providing plug-and-play monetization features that scale effortlessly across experiences.
- Navigate challenges like price floors, economic incentives, fees, and fraud prevention.
- Ensure systems are secure, scalable, and tuned to empower the creator ecosystem to thrive.
- Partner closely with all functions in the company to develop innovative solutions that create a cohesive and powerful creator platform

- A thought leader with a proven track record of highly technical delivery in high scalability environments
- Passionate and experienced about marketplace, e-commerce, and economic motivations and incentives for large scale platforms
- Experienced, with 12+ years in an engineering management role, 6+ years in a Senior leadership role (org size 75+), and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field
