RentSpree is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead product engineering squads focused on building and optimizing their tenant screening product suite, which is crucial for the company's profitability and market leadership. The role involves strengthening existing foundations for scalability and launching new products to drive differentiation and revenue.
Requirements
- Strong technical skills in modern programming languages and frameworks (backend and/or fullstack; we work in Kotlin, TypeScript, and React)
- Deep understanding of cloud technologies and architectures
- Experience in building scalable, high-availability systems, with a focus on simplicity and security
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously
- 7+ years of experience in software development across both startups and large tech companies
- 3+ years of engineering management experience
- Demonstrated experience in leading and influencing teams of 5-10+ engineers, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Serve as engineering leader for core products, including tenant screening and listings, while reimagining partner integrations to accelerate customer acquisition
- Build and drive squads of talented engineers to success, in a fast-moving product delivery team
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and marketing, to define and execute the product roadmap
- Drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes
- Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the team
- Oversee the maintenance and optimization of existing systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance
- Contribute to the strategic planning of the engineering department, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement

- This role is hybrid in-office in downtown Seattle two days per week.
- The candidate will be expected to work closely with their peers in both regions.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience
- This is a hybrid on-site role in Seattle; you may be expected to travel occasionally to one or both offices in LA and Bangkok
