Nextdoor is looking to build trusted connections in local communities by improving the core product experiences, specifically the home feed, to make those connections possible

Requirements

  • Technical background with the ability to guide architecture, planning, and execution
  • Experience managing multiple engineering teams, typically supporting multiple full stack pods
  • Strong product intuition with experience building and shipping consumer mobile products at scale
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross functional partners across product, design, data science, and business
  • Experience using data to guide decisions through experimentation, metrics, and analysis
  • Proclivity for driving measurable product and business results
  • Experience working on social or community driven platforms

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team responsible for the home feed and the full content creation and lifecycle experience on Nextdoor
  • Facilitate strong collaboration across product, design, engineering, and data science partners to translate product vision into clear technical direction and shipped outcomes
  • Ensure teams are aligned on priorities, execution plans, and success metrics, while maintaining project health and visibility through effective planning and delivery practices
  • Provide technical guidance at both the architecture and product level, helping teams make sound tradeoffs, and building systems that scale as the platform and product evolve
  • Coach, and mentor engineers, reinforce a high bar for engineering excellence, and create an environment where feedback is frequent, transparent, and constructive
  • Accountable for the quality, reliability, and timeliness of software shipped to millions of neighbors
  • Grow people and teams, including managing multiple engineering teams and retaining engineering talent while maintaining a high bar for quality and delivery
