Zions Bancorporation’s Enterprise Technology and Operations (ETO) team is seeking to accelerate innovation and modernize technology by hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead their Platform Engineering Enablement function, driving developer productivity, and modernizing the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Requirements
- 8+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering with hands-on technical execution.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD principles, automation strategies, and modern SDLC best practices.
- Practical experience implementing these practices using developer platforms and tooling such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes) within cloud-native architectures
- Expertise with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform) and policy-as-code frameworks (e.g., OPA), with a focus on creating reusable templates and enforcing security and governance standards through automation.
- Experience designing Internal Developer Platforms to streamline workflows.
- Familiarity with AI-driven developer productivity tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Agents, MCP servers).
Responsibilities
- Define and execute a roadmap for SDLC maturity, aligning enterprise OKRs with team goals to achieve business outcomes.
- Design and deliver self-service platforms and automation capabilities (e.g., golden paths, templates, policy-as-code, service catalogs).
- Evangelize best practices across the developer community; coach teams to adopt secure, efficient, and modern engineering workflows.
- Monitor emerging technologies (e.g., GenAI, developer productivity tools) and integrate them into platform strategies.
- Maintain safety and soundness of solutions, adhering to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Build and sustain high-performing engineering teams through hiring, coaching, and upskilling talent.
- Promote data-driven decision-making, root cause analysis, scalable design, and continuous improvement.

- 3+ years in engineering leadership roles, with proven success mentoring teams while remaining technically engaged.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale transformations with incremental value delivery.
- Strong execution mindset, able to navigate ambiguity and deliver results.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical details to both technical and non-technical business stakeholders.
