Medtronic's Spine Operating Unit is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead their team at the Warsaw, IN site. This role is crucial for shaping and optimizing New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, influencing design for manufacturing, driving operational excellence, and ensuring the successful launch of medical devices.
Requirements
- Metallurgical background with expertise in material properties and applications
- Experience with titanium, cobalt chrome, and the implementation of new technologies
- Proficiency with CNC controls and process optimization from a design perspective
- Strong understanding of process controls, GD&T, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
- Experience with capital equipment projects and technology integration
- Proven ability to drive improvements through feedback collection and analysis
- Familiarity with contract manufacturer/supplier management
Responsibilities
- Oversee the design and optimization of manufacturing processes, production layouts, and equipment installations to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance.
- Drive new product introductions (NPI), collaborating closely with cross-functional partners in development, quality, and operations.
- Develop and implement strategies for process improvements, risk mitigation, and cost savings across the site.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and Medtronic’s standards for process controls and quality assurance.
- Manage capital projects, including technology transfers, equipment validation, and integration of new manufacturing technologies.
- Partner with operations leadership to support business growth, continuous improvement initiatives, and future funding strategies.
- Represent the site in interactions with contract manufacturers and suppliers, coordinating local visits and collaboration.

- This role will require about 10-15% travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team, providing coaching, development, and performance feedback.
- Facilitate effective communication and feedback between manufacturing teams, development engineers, quality engineers, and senior management.
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience OR An advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience.
