AECOM is looking to hire a Senior Environmental Engineering Manager to lead a high-profile, large-scale remediation and investigation project in the Northern New Jersey/New York Metro area, requiring deep technical expertise and strong leadership capabilities to solve complex environmental challenges and drive impactful outcomes.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience related to environmental engineering, investigation, remediation, regulatory compliance or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience, including 2 years of leadership.
- Proven experience interfacing with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies (e.g., USEPA, USACE, RCRA projects).
- Strong understanding of remedial design, vapor intrusion mitigation, and groundwater/soil remediation technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse technical teams and manage client relationships across complex, multi-site projects.
- Prior management of long-term remediation projects
- Experience overseeing large O&M projects, vapor mitigation systems, and remediation projects.
- Active participation in business development and strategic growth of environmental service lines.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a multidisciplinary team executing complex site investigation, design, and remediation activities.
- Serve as the primary client liaison and technical advisor, ensuring project delivery excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Lead strategic engagement with federal, state, and private industrial stakeholders.
- Lead environmental investigation and remediation projects across multiple sites, ensuring technical quality, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction.
- Manage all aspects of large, multi-million-dollar projects from planning and design through implementation, O&M, and site closure.
- Serve as the client’s on-site representative for high-visibility projects, maintaining direct communication with regulatory agencies and stakeholder groups.
- Oversee preparation of work plans, cost estimates, schedules, and deliverables while tracking budgets and subcontractor performance.

- Mentor project staff and foster a culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
- Support business development initiatives including proposal writing, contract negotiations, and development of scopes of work.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, scientists, and field personnel to maintain a culture of technical excellence and safety.
