SMBC Group is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-grade applications and automation systems, aiming to deliver scalable, user-friendly, and high-performance solutions across diverse industries.
Requirements
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages: Python, Java, C-Sharp, JavaScript, HTML/CSS.
- Strong experience with frameworks and tools: React, Spring Boot, Django, Flask, Docker, AWS.
- Solid understanding of database systems: Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Agile methodologies, and microservices architecture.
- Experience with automation tools like Power Automate and BI tools like Power BI.
- Familiarity with legacy systems and modernization strategies.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting and banking operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust backend systems, RESTful APIs, and front-end interfaces using technologies such as Python, Java, C-Sharp, React, and SQL.
- Lead end-to-end software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, architecture design, coding, testing, deployment, and documentation.
- Build and optimize ETL pipelines and data warehouses for regulatory reporting and business intelligence.
- Develop automation tools to streamline business operations and reduce manual workloads.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Global Market vertical function, Risk management department, Product Control, and Tokyo head office to define and deliver solutions.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices.
- Support and troubleshoot production systems and provide technical support to users.
Other
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on full-stack development.
- Fluency in Japanese (reading, writing, and speaking) is required to communicate with relevant head office functions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and project management abilities.
- Experience working in financial services or regulated industries is a plus.
- Prior experience in mentoring and leading development teams.
