The New York Times is looking to create features that delight customers through independent journalism, and is seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to join the Games Apps Team to help achieve this goal.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of iOS experience in Swift, including unit testing, networking, data persistence, and UI development
  • 1+ years as a tech lead on complex apps
  • SwiftUI, UIKit, iOS design patterns, profiling, memory management, and multi-threading experience
  • Experience with REST/GraphQL, testing, SQLite, and dependency injection
  • Experience translating product goals into quality, delivered features
  • Experience in mobile platform engineering
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for iOS

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop secure, scalable iOS features in Swift
  • Bring a product mindset to collaboratively align technical solutions with product and long-term tech and mission vision
  • Collaborate with backend and cross-platform engineers to deliver cohesive, integrated features
  • Contribute to roadmap planning, architecture decisions, and continuous improvement of released features
  • Stay up-to-date on iOS best practices and bring new ideas to the team
  • Support a team culture grounded in NYT's values
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
