The OSI enforces New Mexico law on insurance matters and oversees the insurance industry in New Mexico, and the IT department needs to deliver technical support and expertise to enable staff to carry out their oversight responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree
  • three (3) years of experience in software programming
  • Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience
  • SQL database back-ends
  • Jira
  • WordPress websites and plug-ins
  • stored procedures

Responsibilities

  • planning, designing, and developing high-level web-based applications with SQL database back-ends
  • independently managing all phases of the development lifecycle, including system analysis, database and application design, development, testing, and implementation
  • developing and executing testing plans
  • meeting with internal customers to define business requirements and workflows
  • administering all facets of Jira
  • overseeing WordPress websites and plug-ins
  • creating, optimizing, and managing stored procedures

Other

  • Must possess a valid New Mexico Driver's license
  • a current defensive driving course certification from the State of New Mexico or must pass Defensive Driving Course Certificate within six months of the date of hire
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree
  • three (3) years of experience in software programming
  • Occasional travel and work outside regular business hours may be required
