HHSC is looking for a Senior Java Developer to work on Full-stack Java applications on their cloud (Azure/AWS) platform within an Agile (Scrum) environment, providing technical direction to team members and mentoring junior developers.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) in Java programming language (Core Java, JDBC, Spring Boot, Angular, or React)
  • 8 years of experience in designing enterprise applications and/or services
  • 8 years of experience in leading enterprise Java development teams
  • 8 years of experience in applications development on J2EE platform
  • 8 years of experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API development
  • 8 years of experience in working on Spring Aspect Oriented Programming like transaction management and security
  • 8 years of experience in writing SQL including SQL and NoSQL databases
  • 4 years of experience with React or Angular UI Framework
  • 4 years of experience with PowerBI
  • 4 years of experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab/GitHub Actions
  • 3 years of experience in software development using Agile methodology (Scrum)
  • 2 years of experience with Crystal Reports

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the proper direction for the architectural design, planning, production support, and customer services for custom software systems
  • Oversees the coding, testing, and debugging of programs and the preparation of test data
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to management and technical staff in matters related to analysis and programming activities
  • Assists in the planning, scheduling, assigning and coordinating of analysis and programming activities
  • Formulates business policies, procedures, and standards consistent with the agency standardization efforts

Other

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in business, communications, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field
  • Must be willing to work from an HHS office designated by the hiring manager 3, or more, days per week located in Austin, TX
  • Up to 50% travel required
  • Full-time position with a salary range of $7,717.00 - $11,250.00 per month
