Warner Bros. Discovery is looking to ensure their streaming video player performs flawlessly across a wide array of devices by managing and automating their Optimus Video Fidelity Lab.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software development and/or software test automation engineering.
- Proven experience with a wide range of physical OTT devices, including mobile phones/tablets (iOS, Android), connected TVs, smart TVs, set-top boxes (STBs), and gaming consoles.
- Strong proficiency in a scripting language such as Node.js, JavaScript, or Typescript.
- Hands-on experience with Linux, macOS, and Windows operating systems.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and experience with computer hardware setup, configuration, and physical plant management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor remote team members.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues that span hardware, software, and networking.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the Optimus Video Fidelity Lab's physical space.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of our test devices—from ordering and intake to setup and retirement—with a focus on maximizing the total number of devices under management and minimizing installation and assessment times.
- Ensure all devices are reliably connected to the network, are available for remote access, and are functioning correctly.
- Provide essential on-site support for physical device restarts, hardware swaps, and troubleshooting to maximize uptime.
- Drive the vision and backlog for lab automation.
- Design, develop, and implement software solutions to reduce manual overhead, automate device health checks, and streamline lab management processes.
- Work closely with engineering and QA teams to provide specialized "device pods" and custom testing environments tailored to their needs.
Other
- Lead and mentor a team of remote engineers distributed between Bellevue, WA, and Bangalore, India, guiding their efforts in developing automated diagnostics, troubleshooting complex device issues, and certifying partner hardware.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on device hardware, networking protocols, and lab infrastructure, providing critical support to the broader Player team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Naturally inquisitive, a critical thinker, and a proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for detail.
- A self-starter who is comfortable initiating projects and seeing them through from design to execution with minimal supervision.
