Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software development and/or software test automation engineering.
  • Proven experience with a wide range of physical OTT devices, including mobile phones/tablets (iOS, Android), connected TVs, smart TVs, set-top boxes (STBs), and gaming consoles.
  • Strong proficiency in a scripting language such as Node.js, JavaScript, or Typescript.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the Optimus Video Fidelity Lab's physical space.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of our test devices—from ordering and intake to setup and retirement—with a focus on maximizing the total number of devices under management and minimizing installation and assessment times.
  • Ensure all devices are reliably connected to the network, are available for remote access, and are functioning correctly.
  • Provide essential on-site support for physical device restarts, hardware swaps, and troubleshooting to maximize uptime.
  • Drive the vision and backlog for lab automation.
  • Design, develop, and implement software solutions to reduce manual overhead, automate device health checks, and streamline lab management processes.
  • Work closely with engineering and QA teams to provide specialized "device pods" and custom testing environments tailored to their needs.

Other

  • Lead and mentor a team of remote engineers distributed between Bellevue, WA, and Bangalore, India, guiding their efforts in developing automated diagnostics, troubleshooting complex device issues, and certifying partner hardware.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on device hardware, networking protocols, and lab infrastructure, providing critical support to the broader Player team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Naturally inquisitive, a critical thinker, and a proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for detail.
  • A self-starter who is comfortable initiating projects and seeing them through from design to execution with minimal supervision.
