Citibank, N.A. seeks a Senior Lead Counsel I – Product for its Tampa, Florida location to act as Legal Cluster Head for the Latin America (LATAM) Cash Management business, coordinating all legal matters and evaluating business proposals.
Requirements
- 7 years of experience as a counsel, in-house counsel, or related position involving banking laws focusing on Latin America.
- Common law and civil legal systems of Latin America
- Latin American banking industry’s regulatory systems and market practices
- Knowledge of cross-border treasury and trade solution product offerings and transactions
- U.S. legal and regulatory compliance and documentation standards
- Legal and transactional risk analyses
- Digitalization and standardization of documenting processes
Responsibilities
- Act as Legal Cluster Head for the Latin America (LATAM) Cash Management business (part of Citi’s Treasury and Trade Solution (TTS) business within Services).
- Co-ordinate all Cash Management legal matters for the LATAM cluster, including for the Payments, Liquidity Management Solutions (LMS) and Platform and Data Services (PDS) units.
- Objectively evaluate Business proposals by applying institutional knowledge and risk appetite against industry standards, widely accepted business practices, laws, rules, and regulatory guidelines, escalating as appropriate.
- Collaborate across internal lines of business and control/support functions to achieve coordinated and efficient outcomes on matters of common interest; coordinate closely with the Legal team on a regional and global basis, interacting with global, cluster and local stakeholders.
- Participate in business planning and development initiatives; contribute to business objectives by providing thought leadership using knowledge of industry, laws, and regulations.
- Identify, evaluate, and contribute to the appropriate management of legal, regulatory, and reputational risk by collaborating with ICRM & Risk, following relevant legal developments, participating in internal projects, escalating as appropriate.
- Manage day-to-day legal activities as a subject matter expert in area of responsibility and provide advisory services to business partners.

- Requires a Juris Doctor degree, Master’s degree in Law, or foreign equivalent
- Must be a member in good standing of the Florida State Bar or must be registered as Foreign Legal Consultant with the Floridian Bar Association.
