The mission of the team is to foster growth and increase profitability of Uber by pushing the frontiers of machine learning, data science, and economics and developing highly reliable and scalable platforms to accelerate Uber's impact on the transportation industry.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and owning machine learning models in production environments , with a focus on solving business problems rather than just optimizing theoretical performance.
- Strong understanding of large-scale data and training systems (e.g., Spark, Hive).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a track record of translating vague problems into actionable ML strategies.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., C++, Java, Python, or Go).
- Demonstrated experience in taking end-to-end ownership of complex, ambiguous business problems , formulating them into ML and optimization challenges, and delivering significant business impact.
- A strong desire to apply modeling techniques to pragmatic solutions that directly impact users and the business.
Responsibilities
- Own the entire lifecycle of ML solutions , from understanding ambiguous business challenges to deploying and maintaining high-impact models in production.
- Translate complex business problems into clear ML and optimization formulations , identifying the right features, model structures, and optimization constraints to deliver measurable business impact.
- Innovate and apply advanced ML and optimization techniques to solve real-world problems that directly improve Uber's marketplace efficiency and ensure seamless, high-quality user experiences.
- Productionize modeling solutions into scalable, robust, and reliable systems.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional and cross-team stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver impactful solutions.

- For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year.
