American Honda Motor is looking for an experienced principal Data Science leader to develop and manage new solutions in AI, machine learning, and applied language models that will drive optimal marketing mix, customer marketing, and digital experience.
Requirements
- 10 years of experience in software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, R, C++)
- 3 years of experience managing data scientists and/or machine learning engineers
- 5 years of experience developing machine learning systems, including data preparation, model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring. Experience with automating continuous training and delivery strongly preferred.
- Expert knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques.
- Experience in building large-scale machine learning and AI (artificial intelligence) model for business applications such as recommendation, optimization, personalization, or search.
- Experience with large-scale data processing and building scalable systems from big data.
- Experience leveraging data insights to influence business stakeholders and communicate complicated concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of applied scientists and ML engineers to deliver AI-based solutions.
- Identify and prioritize AI/ML solutions with significant business values.
- Conduct research and implement new methods that have the potential to significantly improve our AI capabilities.
- Develop end-to-end machine learning (ML) systems including data analysis, data preparation, model development, training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Develop evaluation framework and carry out evaluations of machine learning models.
- Build ML pipeline with continuous training, validation, and automatically runs models as a service.
- Build machine learning modeling initiatives supporting customer-facing experience, sales, and marketing programs.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that AI solutions are aligned with business strategy and goals.
- Communicate research and results to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Design and analyze controlled experiments. Drive productization to deliver business and customer value.
- Demonstrates clear communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
- At least 4 days in office per workweek. 1 fixed remote workday per week may be possible, based on department approval.
