Walmart is looking for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead a team focused on creating initiatives for future strategies, specifically for the Store Item Platform. The role aims to develop a long-term strategy and a transformative path for the engineering team, requiring immediate results and innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in building highly resilient, highly scalable systems
  • Hands on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Cloud (Azure/GCP/AWS), Kafka (or other messaging service), GraphQL and NoSQL (Cassandra, Cosmos etc.)
  • Should be hands on writing/reviewing design & code.
  • Proficient in new and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions.
  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the Store Core Platforms & AI Initiatives.
  • Lead a team of engineers in the design and implementation of various features in the platform.
  • Engage and guide the team technically.
  • Get involved in design and architecture and hands on coding if required.
  • Develop innovative strategies, processes, and best practices by leading internal technical teams.
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams across the business.
  • Developing assessments of key opportunities.

Other

  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Lead or Managerial role.
  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills; ability to influence and persuade, without direct control.
  • Mentoring/coaching staff engineers and other Engineers.
  • Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
