The Customer Care & Aftersales team is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Robotics to execute the reimagination of processing within CCA, driving large-scale automation and packaging optimization initiatives with a focus on robotics, collaborative robots (cobots), and robot guided vision and machine learning.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of industrial robots, cobots, and robot-guided vision systems.
- Proven ability to design safe, efficient, and scalable operations, including robotic workcells, automated packaging lines, and material handling systems, with a strong emphasis on ergonomic workstation layout, risk mitigation (e.g., G-Comply), and throughput optimization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrated through the application of data-driven methodologies such as root cause analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and discrete event simulation to resolve complex manufacturing and automation challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to lead architectural reviews, define system interfaces, and manage cross-functional integration, including the development of interface control documents (ICDs), coordination of PLC/HMI and MES systems, and alignment of mechanical, electrical, and software components across internal teams and external vendors.
- Experience leading automation or robotics deployments in warehousing or production.
- Experience with simulation and modeling tools (e.g., Gazebo, MATLAB/Simulink, SolidWorks) for concept validation.
- Deep understanding of systems engineering principles, design patterns, and performance optimization techniques.
Responsibilities
- Lead large-scale capital projects related to automation, packaging systems, and robotics.
- Collaborate with outside vendors, integrators, and OEMs to define system capabilities and deployment plans.
- Provide technical direction on robotics and other automation, including cobots, end of arm tooling, and vision-guided automation.
- Drive optimization of existing robotic and product conveyance systems to improve safety, efficiency, and cycle time.
- Create and maintain engineering standardized work and documentation.
- Lead redesign of production areas, with a focus on automated workstations and material presentation.
- Oversee scoping, installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment, including safety verifications (G-Comply).

- Onsite - This role requires you to be onsite on a full time basis. The primary work location will be Burton, MI.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Travel to support OEM build reviews, runoffs, and site installations as required (may include weekends or off-shifts during critical launch milestones).
- Project management experience across multi-functional teams and facilities.
