Hypergiant is looking to solve the business problem of developing command and control (C2) software for mobile platforms for the DoD, aiming to integrate existing capabilities and provide automation to improve mission planning and execution efficiency.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience developing applications or plugins for the Android Team Awareness Kit / Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK) environment
- Able to develop organized, accessible, and performant apps using Java and Kotlin
- Solid understanding of the ATAK SDK, Android Studio, and plugin architecture
- Proficient with version control systems (e.g., Git) and effective collaborative development workflows
- Experience managing robust build (e.g., Gradle) & test tools, implementing workflow automations, and managing dependencies
- Understanding of multi-threading, asynchronous programming, and Android security concepts
- Familiarity with cloud-native geospatial data formats like KML, geoJSON, geoParquet, geoArrow
Responsibilities
- Design and develop Android applications and plugins for the ATAK/TAK ecosystem
- Implement geospatial data visualization and mapping functionality in an ATAK-based application
- Integrate with multiple data sources and use ATAK and web-native communication protocols
- Ensure applications meet security requirements and compliance standards
- Support deployment and maintenance of applications in operational environments
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of reusable component libraries and shared codebase
- Write high-quality code, applying best practices, coding standards, and design patterns

- This position requires active U.S. national security clearance and the ability to obtain one.
- Ability to travel may be required to customer and subcontractor sites as well as other office locations.
- Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a US DOD Security Clearance.
