Johnson & Johnson's Global Network Architecture, Automation, and Engineering organization is seeking a Senior Network Observability Engineer to ensure the visibility, health, and performance of a global, highly available enterprise network, leveraging AI/ML and AIOps for proactive issue detection and automated resolution.
Requirements
- Experience as a technical owner of observability or monitoring platforms, including design, deployment, and operations.
- Strong familiarity with network telemetry protocols and data types (syslog, SNMP, NetFlow/IPFIX, streaming telemetry).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, or similar) for APIs, data pipelines, and workflow automation.
- Familiarity with DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices (CI/CD, Git-based version control, automated testing).
- Experience enabling closed-loop automation that integrates observability with network automation workflows.
- Familiarity with multi-cloud observability, including AWS, Azure, and GCP telemetry.
- Exposure to AIOps and AI/ML-based anomaly detection or proactive modeling.
Responsibilities
- Own and advance the global network observability service offering, accountable for design, deployment, operations, and lifecycle management.
- Engineer and scale observability infrastructure (containerized deployments, Helm, clustering, load balancing, multi-region engines).
- Connect network observability with enterprise observability, ensuring insights flow both ways and enrich analysis across domains.
- Apply AI/ML and AIOps to deliver anomaly detection, intelligent capacity insights, and drive closed-loop automation.
- Extend telemetry coverage to include cloud-native data sources such as AWS CloudWatch, Azure NSG/VNet logs, and GCP flow logs.
- Deliver actionable insights through dashboards, reports, and visualizations supporting incident response, change verification, capacity forecasting, and lifecycle reporting.
- Engage with peers and end users to develop and implement new use cases and integrations that drive observability adoption and value.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of enterprise network engineering experience in global environments.
- Clear communicator; translates intricate observability concepts across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Analytical, data-driven approach; connects observability insights to operational and business outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem) and enterprise standards.
