Peraton is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team to transform the future of public safety technology by building and maintaining a suite of software products that help first responders improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience
- Proficiency in DCL (Digital Command Language) scripting and RMS (OpenVMS Record Management System - Indexed files)
- At least 5 years of software development expertise with OpenVMS Macro Assembly
- Experience developing with TCP and UDP protocols, as well as XML and JSON message formats
- Experience across the full product life cycle
- 8 to 10 years of experience with the OpenVMS operating system
Responsibilities
- Implement feature enhancements and other changes for a suite of software products marketed to the public safety domain
- Develop solutions primarily using OpenVMS Macro Assembly. Use of other technologies expected
- Collaborate with systems engineers to gain understanding of system requirements
- Implement system requirements to meet user needs
- Assist with the development of estimates for levels of effort for proposed changes
- Apply software engineering best practices to ensure software quality
Other
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience, or an Associate's degree and 10 years of experience, or a High School diploma and 12 years of experience
- Occasional travel to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States will be required.
- Master's degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field
- Experience in Public Safety Solutions
- Experience with computer-aided dispatch systems
