Caterpillar Inc. is looking to solve structural issues in heavy structures, including main frames, linkages, and undercarriages, by evaluating and developing components to meet goals of strength, stiffness, fatigue life, and natural frequency while adhering to manufacturing and cost constraints. They also aim to develop new products and resolve field issues.
Requirements
- Proficient in FEA model building (NASTRAN required), with the ability to interpret simulation results accurately.
- Experience with weld/metal fatigue, dynamics, vibrations, modal testing, isolation systems, and digital signal processing is highly desired.
- Experience with FEA tools such as LS-Dyna, Creo Simulate, or similar software is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Building and running FEA models using NASTRAN, LS-Dyna, and Creo-Simulate.
- Working with designers and contributing own ideas to develop efficient solutions to structural issues.
- Supporting validation testing with gage maps and data analysis.
- Correlation of FEA models to match test data.
- Working with analysis team to continually improve analysis efficiency and quality.
- Involving other engineers and technical resources to address detailed technical problems.
- Clearly communicating analysis results through verbal presentations and written reports.

- Degree requirement: Bachelor's degree in engineering (preference towards mechanical, aerospace or civil)
