At Boeing, the business problem is to support the Enterprise Software Verticals (ESV) organization by designing, building, and operating secure, scalable, and reliable platform capabilities that accelerate software delivery across programs and business units.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in large-scale software and system architecture, including distributed systems and cloud-native design with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- 5+ years of experience in building platform capabilities using infrastructure as code, Zero-trust architecture, Configuration as Code and cloud security best practices.
- 5+ years of experience in hands on programming and software design background with the ability to strategize, review, design, and deliver robust tools
- 5+ years of experience in mentoring and leading technical teams while fostering a culture of excellence and innovation
- Knowledge of the practical application of network technologies. Ability to solve difficult network problems like Quality of Service, multi-level security, network protocol conversion, network management problems and application optimization.
- Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies. Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints.
- Ability to identify susceptibility, survivability, and vulnerability (S/V) of the systems, subsystems and delivery mechanisms, based on the knowledge of characteristics and capabilities of threats (e.g. protocol exploits, identity spoofing, malware injection techniques, application layer vulnerabilities).
Responsibilities
- Reviews input provided on secure network and protocols throughout the end-to-end lifecycle development of software products.
- Reviews software project management activities and software supplier management functions.
- Leads the design, development, architecture, and maintenance of software solutions for network stack protocol software used to securely exchange data between systems.
- Partners with stakeholders to lead identification and review of product security requirements.
- Designs and implements cloud-native platform services, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD pipelines, leveraging modern cloud platform engineering practices to improve software delivery velocity and system resilience.
- Collaborates with architects and software teams to standardize patterns, harden runtime environments, and enhance observability across Kubernetes, containerized workloads, and multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and on-premises infrastructure.
- Mentors engineers, contributes to architectural decisions, and drives continuous improvement in platform reliability, cost efficiency, and operational excellence through automation, infrastructure as code, and robust testing practices.
Other
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- 10% travel required
- U.S. Person required, as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15, which includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
- Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
