3M is looking to develop a fundamental understanding of the mechanical behavior of its materials and products, and to enable next-generation products via Multiphysics modeling and simulation.
Requirements
- Ph.D. degree (completed and verified prior to start) in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Chemistry
- Two(2) years of post-doctoral experience in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Chemistry in a private, public, government or military environment
- Two (2) years of experience in computational chemistry
- One (1) year of experience applying machine learning algorithms to material design spaces
- Experience with python or another programming language
- Experience with coarse graining techniques
- Understanding of high performance compute environment
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of a fundamental understanding of the mechanical behavior of 3M materials and products.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of application engineers, scientists, and process engineers to enable next-generation products via Multiphysics modeling and simulation
- Develop molecular dynamics informed models of soft materials to guide formulators and engineers in identifying appropriate design spaces
- Support simulation engagements with customers
- Understand, develop, and guide the establishment of new computational tools and systems.
- Initiate and contribute to the analysis and development of intellectual property
