Northrop Grumman is looking for a Senior Principal Engineer - Material Processes to analyze, research, and develop materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design and application of structures, systems, and subsystems for aircraft.
Requirements
- Familiar with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes
- Experience with material Obsolescence issues and qualifying materials
- Experience with LO materials
Responsibilities
- The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
- The candidate will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
- The candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organization performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans.

- This position requires the ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience preparing and presenting oral and written reports
- Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science
