Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal UX Engineer - Researcher/Designer to contribute to the design and research of human-centered systems, ensuring usability, consistency, and mission effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Expertise with user-centered design (UCD) principles, research methodologies, and usability testing
  • Experience with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Axure, Lunacy, Adobe Suite, Lucid, Figma)
  • Experience with contributions to Human Factors Analyses (including but not limited to: Task Analyses and Predictive Workload Analyses, Usability studies, Workload, and Situational Awareness surveys)
  • Experience with following, building and maintaining a style guide and design system
  • Experience with visual design (e.g. typography, symbology, layout) and UX/UI development methods (e.g. personas, heuristic evaluations)
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1472 (Department of Defense Design Criteria Standard for Human Engineering)
  • Mastery of design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Lucid)

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and research of human-centered systems
  • Apply user experience methods to features, workflows, and system modules
  • Plan and execute user research activities, create prototypes, and wireframes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive and efficient solutions
  • Perform UX research independently, UX design independently, or a combination of both
  • Plan and execute user studies, develop wireframes and prototypes, and apply human factors principles to systems design
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support agile development, ensuring compliance with style guides

  • Active Secret clearance required at the time of application
  • Ability to travel ~10% of the time (conducting any user engagement visits or usability testing)
  • 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in STEM; 6 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in STEM; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD in STEM
  • Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design solutions for web applications
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and present effectively with cross-functional teams
