ASSA ABLOY Level is redefining the smart home with technology that is simple, intuitive, useful, and invisible. The company is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support projects within the Hardware Design team, focusing on developing future products.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product design experience with a demonstrated ability to manage subsystems within larger projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, with experience in mechanism design and designing for strength and reliability
- Experience in designing consumer-oriented products using various processes and materials, including plastic molding and metal parts (sheet metal, diecast, MIM, CNC, etc.)
- Solid math skills, including geometry, calculus, and physics
- Familiarity with CAD (Siemens NX preferred) and other mechanical design software (ANSYS)
- Effective problem-solving skills with a balance of creative and critical thinking
- Experience working with Asian manufacturing and supply chains including experience and willingness to travel internationally for key supplier meetings and NPI builds
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the creation of products from concept to mass production, focusing on specific subsystems within larger projects
- Support the design, build, assembly, and testing of product prototypes, with attention to durability and long-term performance
- Assist in decision-making processes during design reviews, ensuring that choices align with project goals
- Collaborate with electrical and firmware engineers to implement designs that meet product requirements and maintain cross-functional alignment
- Develop and maintain mechanical designs and BOM in 3D CAD (NX), and create engineering specifications that define components and subassemblies
- Maintain clear product records in PLM (Arena), ensuring documentation is up-to-date and accessible
- Promote clear and transparent communication within the team, and provide updates on project status, risks, and key decisions
