Ovyl is looking for a Senior Product Design Engineer to help shape the future of physical product development by designing and engineering consumer electronics, lifestyle products, and medical devices.
Requirements
- You design hardware products like what is shown on our website (https://www.ovyl.io/) — not bridges, HVAC systems, heavy industrial machinery or process engineering.
- You have a portfolio with real CAD screenshots (or files), photos of final products, and at least one case study that goes deep on your DFM/DFA thinking.
- You’ve shipped at least 2–3 real products with injection-molded parts and integrated PCBAs.
- You know how to balance what looks good, works well, and can actually be manufactured — DFM, DFA, and tolerance stack-ups are your bread and butter.
- You’ve worked in a product design studio or consultancy before (highly preferred) — you know how to juggle different projects, clients, and timelines without losing sight of the details.
- You love working with ID, EE, UR/UX, and factories to get the whole product right.
- You’re hands-on: you do the CAD, build the prototype, show up for EVT/DVT/PVT, and work with suppliers to fix the inevitable surprises.
Responsibilities
- Own mechanical design for a range of consumer and B2B hardware products.
- Create clean, production-ready CAD models, drawings, and tolerance analyses.
- Develop inventive, practical solutions to complex mechanical and system-level challenges.
- Work side-by-side with industrial design, electrical, research, and UX folks to get the whole product right.
- Guide suppliers through DFM reviews, tooling, and production builds.
- Support EVT/DVT/PVT builds and help solve manufacturing hiccups.
- Prototype rapidly and iteratively—hands-on with 3D printing, machining, and other shop tools.
Other
- Must live in the Nashville, TN, area or be willing to relocate.
- Must be allowed to work in the USA now and in the future.
- Good communicator — you can explain your thinking clearly and receive feedback well.
