CoStar Group is looking to enhance its design practice by creating a scalable design system that empowers the full product team and raises the bar for interface quality, accessibility, and consistency across its product suite.
Requirements
- Expert-level visual and interaction design skills – typography, layout, spacing, hierarchy, and motion.
- Strong knowledge of accessibility, responsive UI, and platform conventions (web, mobile, desktop).
- Advanced proficiency in Figma including component systems, tokens, variables, and visual specifications.
- Experience creating or scaling a design system, with examples of components, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Comfort working with front-end frameworks like React, or familiarity with handoff and QA workflows.
- Experience supporting or maintaining multi-brand / multi-theme systems.
Responsibilities
- Create and lead the design system, including component libraries, visual style guides, documentation, specifications, and governance processes.
- Define and uphold a high standard of UI quality, ensuring interfaces are visually cohesive, accessible, and production ready.
- Build patterns and UI libraries that work across multiple products, platforms, and screen sizes.
- Partner with engineers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation and push design system adoption.
- Stay ahead of emerging design tools, visual trends, and system technologies (e.g. design tokens, variable type, theming, and AI tooling).
- Help mentor other designers and contribute to a growing, system-focused design culture.
- Collaborate with product, design and engineering teams to implement scalable design solutions that serve real user needs.
Other
- Bachelor's degree in design, HCI, or related field from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.
- 6+ years of experience in product or interface design with a portfolio showcasing UI excellence and system thinking.
- A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills to influence across product, design and engineering.
- Curiosity about emerging trends and the evolving role of design systems in product development.
- A track record of commitment to prior employers.
- Must be currently eligible to work full-time in the United States.
- Must be able to work in office Monday through Friday in Richmond, VA.
