CoStar Group is looking to enhance its product design and create a scalable design system to improve user experience and drive innovation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience creating or scaling a design system, with a strong grasp of componentization, reusability and cross functional alignment.
  • Deep understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and accessibility best practices.
  • Proficiency in Figma, including component libraries, auto-layout, and design tokens.
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks (HTML/CSS/React) and design to development workflows.
  • Knowledge of design operations, multi-brand systems, or token-driven architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the development of our design system – from component libraries and documentation to governance and implementation.
  • Design thoughtful, end-to-end user experiences that reflect clarity, consistency, and usability across complex workflows.
  • Establish and champion high standards of product design – visual polish, interaction quality, accessibility, and responsive behavior.
  • Conduct research and testing to validate ideas and inform both product and system level decisions.
  • Explore and bring in emerging design trends and technologies (like design tokens, AI tools, theming, and variable typography) that push our capabilities forward.

Other

  • Bachelor's degree in design, HCI, or related field from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.
  • 6+ years of experience designing digital products with a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional product thinking and system-level design.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills – able to clearly explain design decisions, influence without authority, and work fluidly with cross functional partners.
  • A systems thinker with a strong sense of detail and craft.
  • A passion for exploring what’s next in design and technology and applying it thoughtfully to real product challenges.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.
  • Must be currently eligible to work full-time in the United States
  • Must be able to work in office Monday through Friday in Richmond, VA
