The Product Manager – Digital Vehicle Controls will lead the definition and execution of the digital vehicle controls strategy, focusing on delivering intuitive, safe, and personalized user experiences across in-vehicle displays and interfaces.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of product management experience in digital products, with at least 3 years focused on vehicle controls, human-machine interfaces, or user experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in UI flow and human factors, with a proven ability to translate research and regulatory requirements into actionable product features and requirements.
- Deep understanding of safety and regulatory standards relevant to vehicle controls.
- Experience managing product backlogs, prioritizing features, and driving alignment across teams.
- Data-driven decision-making skills, including defining and tracking key metrics (OKRs, KPIs) to measure product success.
- Proven ability to synthesize customer insights, technical constraints, and business objectives into clear product strategies and roadmaps.
- Comfort operating at the intersection of software, hardware, and design to craft seamless, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Own the product vision and strategy for digital vehicle controls, ensuring alignment with customer needs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the definition and prioritization of features that drive seamless, intuitive experiences across physical and virtual control interfaces.
- Collaborate with engineering, UX/UI, validation, marketing, and sales teams to deliver consistent and high-quality control logic and user flows.
- Translate human factors research and customer feedback into actionable product requirements and scalable solutions.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and risks in digital control systems.
- Develop and manage product backlogs, user stories, and go-to-market strategies for new features and enhancements.
- Define and track key metrics (OKRs, KPIs) to measure product success and inform future decisions.
Other
- This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Global Technical Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills, including experience collaborating with engineering, UX/UI, validation, marketing, and sales teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and decisions to diverse stakeholders.
- Skilled in stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and consensus building to drive product outcomes in a matrixed organization.
- The selected candidate will be required to travel <25% for this role.
