Wikimedia is looking for an experienced product manager to drive strategy, build roadmaps, and deliver products for audiences visiting multilingual Wikimedia sites, focusing on making meaningful product innovations to build visually rich, mobile-friendly, and multilingual workflows for internationalization support and localization, and translation tools.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of demonstrable experience as a product manager or equivalent role defining, designing, building and managing user-facing products
  • Expertise in user-facing products, mobile application development and mobile user experience, creating demos and interactive prototypes
  • Experience writing requirements with the ability to translate complex technical requirements to make effective decisions and business cases.
  • Proficiency with data, reporting, analytics, or A/B testing
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Experience working in an agile or iterative software development environment
  • Experience with products backed by machine-learning

Responsibilities

  • Building the product roadmap; defining products, writing requirements, prototyping, developing and launching products and features
  • Managing products through the full product lifecycle, using both qualitative and quantitative methods to measure the impact of your work and clearly articulate long term vision for them.
  • Working with a cross-functional team to build products.
  • Releasing and iterating intentionally to provide incremental value and validate hypotheses.
  • Experience writing requirements with the ability to translate complex technical requirements to make effective decisions and business cases.
  • Proficiency with data, reporting, analytics, or A/B testing
  • Experience working in an agile or iterative software development environment

Other

  • Developing and driving strategy for user experience on Wikipedia in alignment with global trends evolving around knowledge creation and consumption.
  • Becoming an expert in the goals and challenges of users joining the Wikipedia community from different backgrounds, geographies, and experiences.
  • Determine concrete proposals and timely decisions through effective collaboration, data, and feedback process.
  • Collaborating with volunteer community members around the world.
  • Coordinating and collaborating across other departments, such as Marketing, Movement Communication, or Partnerships, that participate in expanding user engagement.
  • Ability to clearly communicate product plans and results to stakeholders and collaborators
  • A desire to make meaningful contributions to knowledge equity, free culture, and open access
