The State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Structures (OOS) needs to oversee the statewide bridge condition inspection program.
Requirements
- Three (3) years of experience in bridge inspection or bridge engineering, with a minimum of six (6) months experience as an Inspection Team Leader.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the statewide bridge condition inspection program.
- Direct supervision of seven inspection teams, which include eighteen bridge inspectors, and direct supervision of one under bridge inspection crane operator.
- Review and approval of inspection reports.
- Review and approval of timecard submissions.
- Review and approval of travel expense statements for all bridge inspection personnel.
- Purchases of small equipment needed by the Structures Inspection and Remedial Engineering (SIRE) Division, including purchases for both inspection teams and engineering groups.
- Monthly reconciliation of all purchases on SIRE’s state credit card.
Other
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Seven (7) years of experience in professional engineering.
- Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
- Performs annual appraisals for all inspection team leaders and approves the appraisals of the inspectors rated by team leaders.
- Responsible for resolving all personnel issues involving the bridge inspection teams including recommendations for discipline, hiring, termination and reclassifications.
