The Miami VA Healthcare System is seeking an Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) to advance evidence-based clinical practices, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and support academic training and research to continually improve the standard of care for Veterans.
Requirements
- Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practices in mental health.
- Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and academic training and research.
- Familiarity with VA policies and procedures.
- Understanding of the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) and its role in mental health care.
- Knowledge of personnel management principles and practices.
- Experience with budgeting and resource allocation.
- Familiarity with performance planning and evaluation methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Promoting and ensuring understanding of the program's vision, mission, and goals among staff.
- Advocating for and securing necessary resources, including fiscal, space, equipment, personnel, and travel, to meet the Mental Health Service goals and mission.
- Serving as a voting member and chair of the Mental Health Committee.
- Representing, or delegating the authority to represent, the Mental Health Council on suitable committees, boards, and councils of the VA and Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN).
- Ensuring that the Psychology Service Chief, Psychiatry Service Chief and the Administrative Officer work collaboratively in the annual development and evaluation of the Mental Health Service's goals and objectives.
- Initiating all necessary personnel actions concerning Mental Health Core Staff, including hiring, promotion, evaluation, recognition, counseling, reprimand, discipline, and termination.
- Establishing with the host facility Director or the VISN Director, or designee, the Mental Health performance plan and review the plan with that individual at least annually.
