GemOne is seeking an R&D Engineer to develop future-proof Smart Telematics solutions for optimal fleet performance management in multiple domains such as track & trace, operational efficiency, security & safety and service & maintenance.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of low-level data concepts such as bits, bytes, endianness, signed values, and bitwise operations is highly preferred.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and use basic diagnostic tools to measure and troubleshoot electrical systems is required.
- Proficient in Python and its ecosystem, particularly for developing tools/scripts for CAN bus data capture, analysis, and visualization is required.
- Basic knowledge of C/C++ for embedded systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with embedded Linux environments and Bash scripting is highly preferred.
- Skilled in clear documentation and effective communication, both with local and international teams.
- Comfortable with hands-on tasks, such as assembling custom cables and working with connectors.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary R&D point of contact for CAN reverse engineering in our Americas operations.
- Collaborate with global experts to learn and master CAN-related development, eventually leading development efforts independently.
- Design, develop, and refine wiring harnesses tailored to specific industrial machines to ensure seamless integration of our IoT devices.
- Drive improvements to make our hardware integration solutions as customer-friendly as possible, aligning with our core product philosophy.
- Contribute across the full product development cycle — from hardware design and firmware development to prototype validation.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to support and align embedded and backend software development with hardware solutions.
- Participate in cross-functional engineering initiatives to deliver integrated, high-quality IoT products.

- 5+ years of experience in R&D or similar engineering roles.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% to customer sites, equipment yards, or testing facilities for data collection, hardware access, and team collaboration.
- Detail-oriented and structured in your approach, with a strong preference for quality over quantity.
