3M is looking to enhance understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer in their material handling, energy transport, products, and processes by developing and applying Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models. This role aims to drive the creation of next-generation products through Multiphysics modeling and simulation, assist in identifying optimal design spaces and process improvements, and address complex fluid dynamics challenges with customers.
Requirements
- Three (3) years of experience in computational fluid dynamics.
- Experience with Python or another programming language.
- Fundamental understanding of material handling, energy transport, and fluid flow.
- Understanding of High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
- Experience with integrating Machine Learning (ML) or Artificial Intelligence (AI) with CFD models.
- Familiarity with Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) models and reduced-order models.
Responsibilities
- Leading the development and application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models to enhance understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer in 3M's material handling, energy transport, products, and processes.
- Collaborating with a cross-functional team of application engineers, scientists, and process engineers to drive the creation of next-generation products through Multiphysics modeling and simulation.
- Developing and validating CFD models to assist formulators and engineers in identifying optimal design spaces and process improvements, while supporting simulation engagements with customers to address complex fluid dynamics challenges.
- Initiating and contributing to the analysis and development of intellectual property.
Other
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree (completed and verified prior to start)
- Three (3) years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics or other Science areas in a private, public, government or military environment
- Proven success in working on global teams, collaborating closely with customers, and the ability to both lead and be an effective member of high-performance teams.
