Humana's Healthcare Quality & Reporting Improvement (HQRI) department is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to advance predictive modeling and analytics in support of their Medicare and Medicaid business, by delivering insights that drive the effectiveness of risk adjustment initiatives.
Requirements
- Proficiency with one of the following: SQL, SAS, R or Python
- Experience using mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions
- Ability to use independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action
Responsibilities
- Participates in research study design, analysis and interpretation of results, with special emphasis on statistical and analytical plan development; data acquisition, preparation, and management; statistical analysis and interpretation of findings.
- Apply advanced statistical methods to rigorously evaluate the impact of risk adjustment programs and pilot projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues specializing in data science and actuarial analytics.
- Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert in research study design and analysis.
- Take ownership of existing program evaluation projects.
- Create a framework for evaluating risk adjustment programs and expand our scope to evaluate a broader array of risk adjustment programs.

- Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of demonstrated research science or related experience
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
- Master’s degree or higher education
- Experience in health care, insurance, or risk adjustment
- Occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.
