Peraton is seeking a Technical Lead to provide technical expertise and leadership for the customer’s Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems built on OpenVMS technology, to design, implement, and maintain robust technical solutions for customer’s CAD systems.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with OpenVMS-based applications
- Strong technical expertise in OpenVMS architecture, system administration, and application development
- Strong knowledge of OpenVMS system administration tools, DCL scripting, and performance optimization
- Proficiency with application and system monitoring tools for mission-critical environments
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Relevant certifications such as OpenVMS, ITIL, or TOGAF
- Experience integrating OpenVMS systems with third-party applications or APIs
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business and technical leaders to understand functional and non-functional requirements for the CAD application.
- Design and propose technical solutions to meet requirements, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance in the OpenVMS environment.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of critical system issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational continuity for CAD systems.
- Develop and implement solutions for monitoring the CAD application and its OpenVMS environment, including performance metrics, system health, and alerting mechanisms.
- Coordinate with developers during technical implementation, providing guidance on coding standards, system architecture, and best practices.
- Define and enforce processes and standards to ensure high-quality delivery of technical solutions, adhering to customer’s operational and compliance requirements.
- Conduct root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventive measures to enhance system stability.

- Bachelors degree and 8 years of experience or a High School diploma and 12 years of experience.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
- Must be local to the New York City area and available for on-site work as required
- Effective communication skills for interfacing with technical and business teams
- Comfortable working in high-pressure, public safety-focused environments
