Microsoft Azure Compute team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and grow a product that provides customers with greater intelligence and choices when accessing Azure capacity across regions. The Kronox team within Azure Compute aims to streamline the scheduling of resource setup and teardown to optimize cost of goods sold (COGS) while maintaining a high service level agreement (SLA). This involves balancing resource availability with minimizing unnecessary resource usage, placing the team at the intersection of large-scale distributed systems and advanced data science, including machine learning (ML) prediction models.
Requirements
- 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, OR Java
- 4+ years of experience with multithreading and asynchronous processing in software development environments.
- 1+ year(s) of experience applying object-oriented programming principles and common design patterns to build scalable and maintainable systems.
- 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, or Java
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering, including designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
- 4+ years of experience delivering high-quality, customer-focused products with measurable impact.
Responsibilities
- Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
- Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
- Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
- Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
- Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.

- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
